Site Review of Inasra.com - Clean and Fast Options

I have been catching up on a great deal of web work this week, and worked on a review for Inasra.com today.  Its a travel site targeted for finding hotels in India.

The layout and interface is very clean and fast.  All the pages I tried loaded in less than two seconds, but I was very impressed with the speed of the filter options on the site.

Let’s say you are looking for hotels in mumbai, India.  You select a time frame and pick the city of Mumbai.  You will then get a list of potential hotels from which you can filter more completely.

As you select a check box for the items you want to include in the filter the site is very fast and adept and eliminating those hotels that no longer meet the users requirements.  The filtering process is almost instantaneous.  Plus, if you are looking for more information on a given hotel, you can expand and contract the details section to get more information more rapidly.

Here is a filter with Fax included:

The same search with Fax unchecked instantly offers a greater selection of hotels (that apparently do not have faxes):

A couple weeks back, I traveled to Las Vegas in the United States.  I could only wish that the hotel sites had been half as easy to navigate and compare requirements as this site was.  It does not seem to have any user reviews included in the current beta which is a negative.

Plus, there does not appear to be different price levels within a hotel (like a suite versus a room versus something else).

Steve Jobs Questioned by DOJ Investigators?

Its is being reported that Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, was questioned with his attorneys present, by investigators presumably from the Department of Justice that is investigating Apple’s backdating of stock options.

Apple took an $84 million charge relating to the issue last quarter and internal company investigators cleared Jobs of any wrong doing, but Department of Justice Investigators are digging further for their own reasons.  Steve Jobs has not admitted to any wrong doing and several senior Apple insiders have left the company, even though they do not admit to any wrong doing either.

The back dating scandal at Apple does not yet seem material compared to Apple’s bottom line, but investigators unlike auditors have to look into the criminal aspect as well.

AllWebMenus Trial Review

I am reviewing a software designed to make it easy to generate drill down menus on web pages and blogs.  This is a task that I have done quite a bit of html work with in dreamweaver and even some work in flash.  However, I am always on the lookout for something that makes this task easier and much more practical.

AllWebMeus can be downloaded for free in a limited edition and full licenses are available for $29.95 (lite versions) and $39.95 for the full pro version, plus bundled option that include templates created by the software creator, Likno for various additional amounts all under $100.  Likno provides DHTML Menu Maker software program available for download.

For anyone that has ever spent hours creating menus and fine tuning them only to go back and revamp them when a new page or button is needed, these prices may seem rather cheap compared to the time saved.

I’m looking forward to trying out the trial version, and hope even to generate some groovy menu butttons here on the Maven Mapper’s Information blog.  If it turns out good, I’ll even recommend it to my web design customers!

I do have to admit that I am very excited to try out this product.  Likno is sponsoring this article, but regardless they are offering up a great idea.
