I stopped by the Mindjet blog today and came across and interesting posting titled Mindjet Spreads a little holiday cheer through the Holidays!

From there I started a bit of a treasure hunt going to Thisnext where they had me sign up for an account.

Long story short, I basically put MindManager on my wish list and provided a recommendation at the same time.  I’ve been meaning to get a copy of this to a friend of mine, and that’s probably where my next order will go!

Don’t Regift a Gift Card, Trade it In or Cash it Out

OK, Mr. Grinch, you didn’t take the time to provide a Christmas list and just shot out a quick email to friends and family with the stores you like or maybe you didn’t mention anything at all. 

So your friends and family are at a loss as to what to get you for the holidays, and again just like so many seasons before, they get you a gift certificate. 

But I don’t Shop there?

The gift certificate is for a store or service that you won’t use, so what do you do.  You could quickly repackage and Re-Gift the card to someone else, its one of those holiday moral spirit questions that is a little ambiguous.

Trade it In!

Or you could trade the gift card in for a gift card to a store or service that you do like where you can actually use it and so that your friends’ and family’s good intentions and money do not go to waste. Swapagift.com lets you trade your gift cards online with other people that have fallen into the same situation. You can also sell your card to SwapAGift and they will then in turn resell it or trade it through their marketplace.

Trading is definitely a better option, as it keeps everybody working together and if you cash in the card you will receive a discounted cash benefit, but cash is better than leaving a card sitting on your dresser or desk for a couple years wasting away or expiring before you ever spend it.

I’m going to start covering more tips and procedures for MindMapping in MindManager from Mindjet throughout this blog.  I have covered higher level uses in the past but will delve more into specific actions and tasks.

For my readers that are not aware, I am a MindManager trainer and have been for almost two years. 

Today, I would like to point out a simple tip about AutoCorrection.  In MindManager there is a default setting that corrects the spelling of words as you type.  Its a common enough function in many programs.  MindManager has a specific menu option solely for this function that is not combined with the normal spelling options.  In comparison, if you wanted to turn auto correction off in Microsoft Word, you would only need to Select Tools>Options>Spelling & Grammar Tab>Select the check box option for ‘Check Spelling as you type.’

In MindManager if you go to Tools>Options>Spelling and uncheck the check spelling as you type it will only stop the underlining of mis-spelled words. 

How to Turn AutoCorrect Off in MindManager

To stop the AutoCorrect of words in MindManager, it is required that the user go to Tools>AutoCorrect Options…>Select uncheck checkbox for ‘Replace text as you type’   and that is all it takes.

Advanced AutoCorrect Tip

You can add, delete or edit the library of common words that are replaced with the most common mistakes.

As example Wensday is changed to Wednesday and em is replace with me.  This is actually how I found this option.  I was writing about Texas Hold ‘em and the auto-correct kept changing ‘em to me.
