Weekend is Here: Poker Time!

On the weekends, I like to leave the technology behind a bit, but not too far behind. Every few weeks I hop on to Poker Stars or Party Poker and sometimes I scout out a new site.

VegasPokerPro is a site that has good round up of some of the other poker sites on the net. They have lines on the promo codes and bonuses to sign up for at least a dozen rooms. They also have some good information on poker strategy.

I’m a casual player and so I like to brush up on the strategy fairly regularly. For one thing it allows me to restart and forget all the bad habits I picked up the last time I played. Plus, being the product of a public school education, the repetition of studying strategy sinks in a little further each time around.

If you haven’t tried Party Poker this is a screen shot of what you get there. VegasPokerPro does a good job of showing you the actual poker rooms and the lobby areas so that you can get a feel for the site and see if it will work for you.

If anyone happens through a poker room and wants to try and clean me out, I usually play under the name brettbum.

Confession of a Gadget Lover: I love my old Treo 600

OK, I’ve got to make a confession. I try out more gadgets than I care to think about sometimes. I’ve literally got a stack of gadget boxes on my table right now that is covering the six foot by 5 foot table.

I’ve got 10 different batteries charging up on samples so that I can give them a test drive for the first time.

But at the end of the day, when it comes to my mobile phone, I love my Treo 600. I’ve got service through T-mobile and I’m in the Atlanta area. This is an old dinosaur of a smart phone and it works great. No dropped calls, lots of great applications, it just keeps chugging a long and won’t die.

Its pretty banged up. I’ve got a cracked space bar and paint that’s been scraped and flaked off most of the edges, but the screen is solid and everything still works. I’ve heard some of my friends complain about their 650’s so I never upgraded. I’m eyeballing the 7xx series but I’m taking my time waiting to make my move.

I’ve searched numerous lists trying to find the best-rated cell phones. At the end of the day if I hear a horror story I stay clear of a product, if I hear about someone that loves their device, then I look for the horror story. If none turn up, then I strike!
