I do a lot of writing from an old wooden foldable TV tray. It weighs in at about 10lbs and pinches my fingers about every fourth setup or take down.

Its made of wood and does not displace heat from my laptop well, and it doesn’t pull in over my chairs or couches with various levels of height.
