Blog Surfing Networks

What is a Blog Surfing Network?

Simply put, this is an older form of social network in the blogosphere. Bloggers create an account, login and network with each other by surfing each others blogs.

In some ways it is kind of like speed dating for blogs with a score card. :)

Each blogger is credited for the blogs they visit. Their credits then push their own blogs into rotation for other bloggers to view as they network in turn. This can be a very good way to network, follow new trends in the blogosphere and blog design and follow hot new blog topics. It can also work like advertising that is paid for with elbow grease as opposed to money. In that regard, it is an excellent way for bloggers to bootstrap and build up their site, reputation, and network on a budget.

Promoting Articles with Blog Surfing Networks

This is also a good place for bloggers to promote individual articles. If you have just written a great new article on your blog and want to insure that people will have a chance to see and read the article, you can increase your blog running on blog networks shortly after you post the article, while it is still on your front page!

How do Blog Surfing Networks fit into the Grand Scheme of the Blogosphere?

There are many ways to chare your blog, however you have to understand that your blog is somewhat like a business card. People may not look at it if they do not know where to find it or even better yet, who you are.

So first start talking to people and as part of your introduction of yourself describe your blog and provide the address.

Online you can do this in discussion groups like google groups and many other chat groups.

Second, people will be more interested in you and your blog if you take more interest in them. Blogs are a very good example of the exercise of Karma. If you reach out to people and take the time to read their blogs, and post intelligent and thought ful replies to their blogs, they will be more likely to consider looking at your blog, if for no other reason than to try and understand the person talking to them.

There are many ways that you can find other blogs and the people behind them. I often recommend several different sites that specialize in what I call the promotion of blogs or the blogging community. Many of them have an exchange like set up where they count the number of blogs you visit and then direct web surfers to your blog for an equal number of visits.

Some will give you points if you review other blogs and these points can then be exchanged for web surfing traffic and reviews.

These Blog Surf Exchanges, Blog Networks and Blogging Social Networks are a means of putting you in contact with people and the blogs. You will be more and more successful as you make connections with people and seek to learn more information or knowledge from them and share your own knowledge as you go!
